Frequently Asked Questions

Is HealthInsuranceCE an approved CE provider in all states?
No. We are not approved in all states. Nor is our entire curriculum available in all states. Check the status of your state on our website.

What is the passing grade on an exam?
You must answer 70% of the questions correctly to get credit in most states.

What if I fail the exam?
You may retake the exam at no additional charge.

Do you store credit card numbers?
No. We have a highly secure server that passes your credit card number to our bank. We do not then store your number. That is why you must re-enter your credit card number each time you purchase a course.

What are 'state fees'?
Many states charge CE credit reporting fees. Most states charge per credit. Some states - including Indiana, Mississippi and Pennsylvania - charge per course.

Can I return to the course material after I have started my exam?
No. The course material is completely separated from the exam. Once you start the exam, you must finish it in one sitting.

How much time do I have to complete the exam?
You have 120 minutes. Based on our experience with hundreds of brokers, this is easily enough time.

How do I get a Course Completion Certificate?
For most states, you can print your own Course Completion Certificate from our website once you have successfully completed an exam. Some states - like California - have specific Certificate requirements. We will email Certificates to students from those states.

Who reports credits to my state?
The following states allow us to report your credits. Note that we do not yet operate in all of these: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, utah, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. We typically report credits about 5 - 7 working days after course completion.

The following states do not allow us to report your credits. Note that we do not yet operate in all of these: Arkansas, Delaware, Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas and Washington.

What's the difference between a "text course" and a "book course"?
For "text courses" both the text and exam are available on our website. You pay one fee for both.

For "book courses" you purchase only the exam from us. Purchase the books separately from amazon.com , among other places.

Why would I purchase a Book Course if it's the same price as a Text Course?
We use well-written, easy-to-read, fascinating books. Most students find these far more interesting than traditional CE courses.

In fact, Overtreated and Better are among our best sellers.

Where can I purchase the home study books?
All home study books are available on amazon.com, among others.

What's an exam proctor?
Many states require proctored exams. The proctor is someone who is disinterested in the result - perhaps a neighbor or friend.

How does the exam proctoring system work?
The proctoring system is quite simple. At the beginning of the exam, both the proctor and student read the regulations, agree to abide by them, and sign in. At the end of the exam, the proctor and student agree that they have complied with the regulations and sign out.

After I have passed an exam, can I still return to the course?
Yes.

Some of your courses present information that is date specific or project trends into the future. One example: the Future of Employer Based Health Ins. Will you provide updates?
As the national health insurance environment evolves we will occasionally email brief updated commentaries to people who have passed the appropriate course. These are free of charge.

Must I watch a Multimedia / Video course in one sitting?
No. You can pause the course at any point and leave our website. When you return to that course, it will begin again where you paused it.

Can I download the audio onto my IPOD and listen in the car?
Yes. Be sure to drive carefully.

Can I download the Power Point slides?
Yes. We have designed these as lecture notes. We recommend that you download the slides prior to watching the presentation so you can easily follow along and take additional notes.

My organization needs a speaker. Are your teachers available?
Several are. Contact us for details.

If I took a course during one CE reporting period, can I take the same course again during another CE reporting period?
Most states allow you to take the same course during different reporting periods. You should verify this with your state authorities.

I lost my user ID or password. What should I do?
You can reset your password at this location-  https://healthinsurancece.com/eduweb/forgot.do, and you'll receive back an email with information on logging into your account.

How do I get a receipt for my registration?
You will receive a copy by email.

How do I know that my registration is confirmed?
You will receive a confirmation by email.

What happens after I take an exam?
Upon completion of your exam, you will receive a Pass or Fail notice.

The Pass notice allows you to download a Certificate of Course Completion. The Fail notice allows you to retake the exam at no additional charge.

Forever CE Credits FAQ

What are ‘Forever Credits’?
Forever Credits never expire. Once you’ve bought them, you can take any course, any time you want, up to your credit maximum. You can use them this year, next year or whenever. They’re valid forever.

Can I choose my courses when I need them?
Yes. Choose courses whenever you want; you do not need to choose when you enroll. This allows you to take new courses as we introduce them, take short courses if you’re under time pressure or repeat the same course during different licensure periods.

Can I take the same course from HealthInsuranceCE during different license periods?
That’s fine with us! State requirements vary though - make sure that your state allows.

I only need 10 credits this year. Why should I buy 24 or 48 from you?
You can use our Forever Credits to fill in. If you buy the 48 credit package but only use 10 credits his period, that will leave 38 credits available for the future. You might not need to buy CE credits again for many years!

I get most of my CEs from carriers, so only need a few each license renewal period. Why should I buy Forever Credits?
Use Forever Credits to fill in when carriers don’t provide all you need. Maybe a few credits this license period, and a lot next.

You offer fewer than 48 credits in my state. Why should I buy this package?

First, we regularly introduce new courses. You can enroll in new courses as we roll them out.
Second, you can take the same courses during different licensure periods, subject to your state regulations. So you can review interesting or complicated CE courses again and again…probably very quickly the second or third time.

How do your ‘additional credits for $1.75’ work?
You may have used most of your Forever Credits and only have 2 credits still available. If you want to take a 3 credit course, we’ll charge you $1.75 for the extra credit. The maximum additional fee is the list price of that course.

Other Designations

Do these courses qualify for CFP Continuing Education credits?
No

Do these courses qualify for various American College designation CE credits?
We do not report credits to the American College. Many of our courses do apparently qualify for the CE requirement of American College designations as long as the student self reports.

Our Guarantee

How does the tuition guarantee work?
We will refund your tuition if you don't find our courses better and faster than the competition.

To receive a tuition refund: send us an email with the name of the course you took from us and the date, plus the name of the course you took from a competitor and the date. Tell us how long each course took to complete and why you found the competitor's course better and faster. Courses must be of equal credit value. As long as your information is credible and not uniquely personal (e.g. "I know a great deal about disability insurance so did not even read their course" - making it faster by definition), we'll refund your tuition. The tuition refund offer extends for 5 days after you complete our course.

Definitions: Better means 'easier to read and understand and more engaging', not 'I prefer their topic X to your topic Y'. Faster means the time it took you to complete our course vs. their course.
